When the wiki comes back, there is a crew combat page where we're looking for players to post really specific builds like this. It sounds like a good one! Any defensive or mitigation techniques in your back pocket if the enemy starts knocking your around or taking out one of your 4? Or, just relying on a strong offense as the best defense? Not really. The only 'mitigation technique' I have here is to use Covering Fire for a Soldier to retreat if they get knocked into slot 2. I favor the "shoot them before they can shoot you" approach to crew combat. I haven't fought Xenos with this strategy yet, and I'm not sure if it would be effective against them. I would bet a more defensive strategy is better suited to fighting Xenos.

Whenever I encounter an Explorer by Patrolling, they always seem to start with -2 hostility. They give me a choice of battle, paying tribute, or surrendering and reporting me to their faction for the crime of keeping the shipping lanes safe. Why is this even a positive card if they act almost like pirates?

My current favorite strategy is to have 2 Swordsman with Bravery Line and Skewering Thrust, and 2 Soldiers with Burst Fire and Covering Fire.
The Swordsmen just chew through foes because the way they swap positions every attack enables them to both use Skewering Thrust every turn. The Soldiers will add to the havoc on the enemies front 2 lines with Burst Fire, or snipe low-HP foes in the back lines.
It is an especially great build for boarding, since enemies that were softened up with ship guns usually all die in turn 1 of crew combat when I attack them with these AoE moves.

Evasion Skill is not useful for Pirates, since they aren't combat crew, and have no crew combat Talents. It would make sense for them to have Gunnery Skill because they are supposedly "experts at blockading worlds to intercept, cripple, and capture ships", and you can't disable a ship without lighting a few fires.

According to the description of the Talent "Battle Damage Repair", it should onnly Repair damage to one component, but it repairs multiple just lime "Warfare Patch".

I have free crew slots. I have the necessary E rep. I have the credits. The contact has the necessary influence. And yet, strangely, I cannot recruit Pirate crew here. Android 7.0 Shield K1

I was boarding with a Talent the first two times, and the rest was boarding at range 1. I guess that must be related to why I only got crew combat with the first 2.

fallen's version of ST lore book = Hundreds of pages of confusing IF THEN ELSE logic loops and variables. ntsheep's version = One page, one line in the center, "It's fracking fun! Play it!" Actually that is Cory's version. Andrew's version is titled "STF Art book".

So, I got into a fight with a smuggler that I didn't want to destroy and encountered a couple bugs in boarding attacks. The first bug was that after the first two boardings, all subsequent boardings skipped crew combat and went directly to the sabotage/decimate screen. The second bug is that sabotage seems to have a chance to target components that are already 100% destroyed.
Because I couldn't kill the crew, and my boarders kept damaging things that were already destroyed, it took me 16 turns for my boarders to get lucky and damage the void engine.

As far as I know, this is the only established lore regarding the flag symbols: Ok, it has been bugging me for two months now, but what is that symbol on the top of the Clan Javat flag? It looks like a mathematical symbol above a J A V. I've tried looking for it through Wikpedia but I can find nothing similar to it. Is it an engineering symbol or something made up? Also, what is the Steel Song Clan symbol supposed to represent? I have imagined it to be a seashell, a steel coin, or possibly a gear; but I have no solid idea. Do the different Factions have nicknames for themselves and each other? that is the astrological symbol of Libra. The star's edge introduction originally states that the sector of space is "beyond the constellations of Libra" which is the reason that I used that symbol. It looks cool and unlike Scorpio, doesn't appear to be a letter but is a symbol pure (like the astrological symbol which is the only one not representing an animal, person or insect.) The Steel Song flag is a chakra wheel, a reference to there belief in the etherial spirit of man, and the cycle of rebirth. Steel Song Assassins are not killing anyone -- they're giving them a chance to be reincarnated in better lives -- Steel Song lives, if they're pure enough. haven't gotten so far to come up with Faction specific slurs against other factions, but that's a clever idea and something that would happen for sure =)

Personally, I don't think either of those sayings are fitting. The former seems to suggests there is something wrong with leaving a planet and becoming a spacer. The latter just doesn't make sense as practical wisdom, as one person in an advanced society can't simply build everything (s)he needs himself/herself.

My favorite strategy is to close to 3 range while using +Defence Talents, and then firing with barrages of lances and plasma guns. I love lances because they have a high chance of inflicting a debuff that reduces enemy RP by 2. It is so awesome when you inflict so many of those debuffs that they literally can't do anything!

resistor I like the slices you put into your Steel Song banner. Almost as though a Cadari knife sliced through them. Except we all know Cadari use torps not knives ... I didn't modify this SSC banner in any way. I just took it from the STF SSC design. And of course, I'm sure most Cadari would struggle trying to cut a piece of cloth with a blade.

I was selling back some weapons I bought from an Ex-BH contact, and realized the item on the sell screen didn't disappear once I 'sold' it. I can seemingly sell a weapon an infinite amount of times for infinite money.
Funny how she said "Good trade, Star Trader" every time I re-sold a weapon! Lol good trade indeed.
