Starting over I'm just doing a few missions to get experience going. I'm doing a Cadar merchant and will focus again on pacifist non exploring. I'm going to focus on pilot, stealth, negotiation. Keep to the med/med ships to save fuel economy and low crew. Good?

Yeah, I have realized some routes , other than spice, that I can run. I need to up my cargo space and maybe buy the upgrade that gives me a bonus that let's me move undetected. Since I have trade permits with 5 of the factions, I just picked up 40 electronics on surplus. Threw then into a cache. Stealth, pilot, and more negotiation are needed.

With my pirate I do that. I'll cache whatever I loot. I'm playing a merchant, non combat class.

Will start doing that now that I have 100k to live on. Might bump my cargo some , haven't decidided. Now, obviosly the safety of the cache is rated, but I had one that was rated as a 4 and never got it found. Is it the treasure hunters rumor I need to watch for? Treasure Hunter ... good idea for a class in ST2 imo.

I'm using Elite. I'm just choosing not to do explore. Using cache for the supply/shortage can pull cash in like a black hole sucks in... well,... every damn thing lol

Well so far with my merchant I hold a trade permit with all but Rychart (-3), and they are in a spy war and a trade embargo. I have over 100k. Ship has a W/F tank and the recycle plant. I'm thinking of starting to start a cache by just picking up the goods from the cheapest places I can find them. Ideas?

Merchant is a love hate thing I see. I find it challenging, especially since I don't want to cross class him as an explorer. I think explorer skills would push me over the edge and I might as well play a smuggler.

I use the cache system, but not like I should. My pirates typically only cache metal, chemicals, lux, and A/W/E items.

I'm thinking of starting a "bloody boots" type. I think first I want to figure out pacifist merchant. I like the idea of the challenge of successfully trading non restricted goods. Have not decided yet.

After y'all helping me , I think I'm doing pretty well. Here are my stats thus far:
Captain : Lvl 25 Pilot 55 Tactics 19 Stealth 14
Other stats remain where they started.
Ship (upgraded) : Thulun honor Hull 16 Arm 13 Eng 33 Sail 41 Crew 70 Hold 86 Gun 28 Torp 14
I don't much have an issue maintaining range and depending on the opponent (aka target) I will stand back and pepper with torp. Then close and gun the engines out. Typically after the first torp or two his sails are a wreck and can not maintain range over me worth a shit. My fuel consumption is 1.54 in red and .11 in green, I'm 9 over for total of engine and guns.
