If there are doors you can't see past in TA2 how about an alien species that can't open doors?
Be great for an "oh crap" moment If you had x turns to complete a mission so you split your squad, open a door and get overwhelmed by nasties.

I had a couple cats that could do that. My old cat Casper got loose while we were moving into a new house. I thought I'd lost him!, then that night he comes out from behind the couch where he had been hiding!!!
