Simple is better. While the ST are indeed His legacy, not enough people are going to know what that means, who he is, or why Shalun is important. Shalun also isn't in this game, so calling it his legacy is misleading in a way. The way this game is set up, it becomes your individual legacy. Star Traders Legacy is short, sweet, a perfect title, and where my vote rests, should it matter. But doesn't say fighting and pirates. We need to attact the attention of people who want fighting and pirates!... I woke up thinking about this time period of the Star Traders journey following Exodus, and "Age of ..." started going through my mind. Star Traders: Age of Ascension Star Traders: Age of Expansion Star Traders: Age of Discovery Star Traders: Age of Adventure Star Traders: Age of __________ ?? Okay, how about... ...I am not sure Alfaan works for the current time period of the world and lore... I thought having "Alfaan" in the subtitle might work because the Alfaan built the hyperwarp gates, which are prominent things in ST2. |

I keep coming back to the biggest change of the game vs ST are the hyperwarp gates to multiple sectors. Have been trying to do a stream of conscienceness thingy with 'Gates' in the subtitle...
'Star Traders: Gates of Discovery' was what I liked best, but had a bunch of others in that vein:
Gates of Opportunity
Gates of Wrath
Gates of Expansion
Echoes of Gates

Think of 200 years beyond the time of ST2. What do these people call the Age of ST2?
Not the Age of Discovery, or the Age of Colonisation I would think.
The Age of Consolidation? The Age of Mercantilism?
In 200 years, what will those people think characterised the age?

It is my own opinion only, but I would certainly hope that whatever the Subtitle ends up being, that it is something that has at least some special meaning to the ST universe, and not some generic space/sci-fi term that could probably fit equally well as a subtitle to any other space-based franchise. That said, I do agree that something only meaningful to ST "insiders" is counterproductive, and won't serve to draw in the next generation of fans. For my take on the Subtitle, I am envisioning the player as a new Captain struggling on the path to survival/success, amongst a hostile quadrant full of individuals and powers hellbent on their own ambitions, eager to take advantage of any suckers that they can string along.
