Our newest game will not actually be called Star Traders 2. Most likely, it will bear the title, Star Traders: <subtitle>. Star Traders 4X Empires moved in that direction, and this new game (currently called ST2) will take the full plunge. Star Traders: Legacy of Shalun is the current draft title, but I doubt we'll use it. We like Star Traders: Legacy a bit, but it feels short. We'd love suggestions. I honestly like the Legacy of Shalun subtitle. I also think that until we know more about the planned storyline, I cannot give an accurate title. But, since you asked, I'm going to try anyway  Star Traders: Distant Suns |

Usually when I hear "legacy", I tend to think of it as something left from a prior time: legacy code, family legacy, etc. ST2 is not a left over! It feels like a completely different game from STRPG. The title should reflect that. Yes, I've seen it. Mostly humorous? It's a LOL romp, but I haven't seen anything that stands out as usable. |

But, since you asked, I'm going to try anyway Star Traders: Distant Suns Yes, we have our moments when we like it as well, but it uses a big fat noun that no one knows and doesn't have the same evocation for a non-ST player. Distant Suns is better -- it creates a picture in your head about what the game is about. Legacy of Somebody-you've-never-heard-of is a little tougher. |

Legacy of Shalun makes me want to know who that is and teases at some cool game lore but distant suns does sound more approachable

I rather like Legacy by itself. A short title is easier to repeat, after all. Star Traders: Galaxies isn't too bad either.

qbspy - nice list! Officer Genious - glad you like just Legacy. It's snappy, if short. I do like Distant Suns as well. I think a good subtitle is going to give some idea of what the mood of the game is, include some kind of graspable concept ... Silence Broken or Broken Silence subtitles like a horror game I think. Now, I'm partial to Vigilante Skies but that won't fly either.

It's coded by Cory Trese with nasty Xeno of course it's a horror game Seriously though when I came up with Silence Broken I was thinking about how after the great exodus and everyone dispersed across various quadrants of the galaxy with no contact for centuries the Jump Gates were now providing a means for humanity to reconnect and the long silence of isolation had been broken. I meant for it to convey a sense of hope and renewal not horror...guess I missed there lol Similar suggestions from that viewpoint Out of Darkness Conections New Genesis |
