startraders.gamepedia.com/Crew_Recruiting#Recruiting_Factors is really quite empty now, alas. So while I am sure that there are other associations, I am still just starting at finding them out. It may be that the whole *map* is biased. At any rate, the same seed that I posted above, produces Fleet Footed Steel Song. So since I am still playing spies, I can generate some astonishing initiative numbers. This was my project for the day. The starting cash for proving your charter is not good, as Calagan is off in a corner away from everybody, but I think that I ought to be able to raise lots of money bounty hunting with a fleet footed, and then fleet footed deviced away team.

i guess I’m staying away from deValtos and Alta Mesa for now (grav sickness is annoying when you have to click on medical EVERY time you land somewhere)

I think that Grav Sickness should become one of the things that Chaesin Doctors can cure. Not that you can get a Chaesin Doctor as a starting contact, mind you, so your early days as an Alta Mesa captain would still be harder. Turns out that Grav sickness is one of the things that Gestalt Technologists (not Chaesin Doctors) can already cure, and you can order up a Gestalt Explorer as a starting contact. The others are Battle Scarred, Combat Nerves, Crippled, Death Wish, Fatalistic, Flashbacks, Hypochondriac, Hyperwarp Sickness, and Weak System.
I stay away from deValtos planets for recruiting, as they all seem to have substance abuse problems. If I want to be a de Valtos captain it always takes me forever to get myself a crew that doesn't live for spice, and I think that the more time you spend spicing the more likely you are to become a spice addict, so the problem seems to spiral out of control.

Thanks Grävling! I hadn’t noticed that Chaesin and Gestalt healed different traits. Regarding substance abuse, you mentioned spicing more creates spice addicts, how do you avoid spicing? Early in the game I can’t afford so many ship battles to use solace in battle, loyalty rising, etc,

Early in the game I can’t afford so many ship battles to use solace in battle, loyalty rising, etc, Remember that this idea that the more you spice the more likely you are to become a spice addict is just my theory, unconfirmed. I could be reading a false pattern out of what is randomness, and spice addiction is still a problem for my crews. But when doing missions, I stopped asking for the 'extra pomp and rep' solutions, and go for 'over the spice plate' morale improving resolutions where you drop off boxes, people, and things like that. I think that it has had an effect, but again, I have been fooled by randomness before.

Star Meadow, a large map I made to use for this month's community challenge. At 34 quadrants, it is larger than most maps I play so that I am more likely to get a very long distance mission. Long distance missions pay more, meaning I am more likely to find a 500k payout sooner than later to win the community challenge. Seed is st-v01-34-2-128881847

So I lucked into an incredibly new player friendly map. 6 out of 9 of the starting locations for playable races start in a system with a rare commodity, with three of them clustered around each other in the middle of the map. Spice wax is tucked away in a short little branch that is just far enough away to make making a profit off of it dumb easy. And if you want to play the trade race (Moklumnue) they start out with a great location in the middle of the map with Med bays in their home location and 2 other rare spices just 2 systems away each. I have not fully mapped out good sell locations because I do smuggling for profit but I have had little to no trouble offloading massive profits. Think 7 figures inside of 3000 turns if you are starting out, faster if you know what you are doing.

Did a touch of digging. Moklumnue can sell to a Independent Tradeaway 1 jump away. Or 2 jumps away. Or 4 jumps away. 3 of them all wanting your sweet sweet med bays, and that was just me looking for 10 min.

So i did play with map seeds for fun and to get myself map without large branches that totally irritate me, and well,... there we go.
i dont think -3- should be there tho. xD
i really like the Iridlaentine sector, iirc from lore this is supposed to be mined in galaxy core and is super rare xD Also Tradeway with Trade Law:1... totally wild indie zone

Easily the best map I've ever rolled. Hands down. Full stop. Period. Cadar is set up perfectly, with an easy pass through the Zenrin quad you'll be enemies with. Everything is laid out in an ideal manner. This needs to be on every player's copy of this game. st-v01-18-2-38765900

This is a high challenge/high reward map. It's not easy by any means, but if you can get established, there are several zones excellent for exploring, including a 12 wild zone or more cadar quadrant in the south center. Alta Mesa has a great start here. st-v01-16-2-52351138
