Phase 1 - Your Exodus Ends
In the same era in which the six major Star Traders Factions stopped in the Quadrant and began the story told in Star Traders RPG, other splinter groups of the great Exodus were also looking to end their journey. Damaged, weary, too low on fuel to make another jump these Factions cannot continue. Separated from the larger Exodus - hundreds of small groups of Colony Hives decide they have no other alternative but to settle the next habitable systems they could find.
You and your family are leaders of a coalition of Factions that has the potential to develop into a powerful Star Traders Empire in its own right.
Phase 1 of the Alpha will focus on your first experiences as an Empire in Exodus. You will have the option to play on two maps up to a certain turn limit (2.50 AE). You will be able to build a small empire, face off against the alien in a few conflicts, and research the starting technologies.
During this phase, we are looking for feedback on the gameplay, screen flow, your encounters with the enemy AI, and easy of play.
Welcome to the Alpha!
You should have received a series of emails from Andrew (atrese@gmail.com) (me) about the alpha and how to get plugged in. Please email me if you have any questions or issues!
Known Issues List
There are some known issues as we enter the Alpha phase. We are working to resolve these issues, but it is fair to give you up front warning about the ones of which we are aware! We will do our best to trim and update this issue with each new update of the Star Traders 4X game. There are certainly other bugs and many, many items on our To-Do list, but this seems to be the most obvious set.
Only the map is covered in fog, so you can see its edge very easily.
Some text runs off the screen edge in many different screens. There is a lot of data to display in a 4X game and we are working hard on more adaptive UIs for large and small screens. This is more prevalent in small screen devices.
A significant percentage of the art is placeholder art.
The game features no sound or music.
The tech tree has been purposefully trimmed for Phase 1. You are only able to see the beginning of the entire tree.
Politics is limited an initial starting Trade Agreement and no Conflicts or Rumors will appear in Phase 1.
Some Xeno Ship attack animations may not play.
Some Boarding Actions display Torpedo animations.
