In games I always try to learn the basics then I do something to prove to myself that I am skilled in it. In skyrim it was obvious that I had to one hit kill alduin. Can anyone think of something for me to do?

Have you tried getting to level 50 on Impossible difficulty?

Yes, an unlucky break with a stupid pirate that rammed me 4 times. That and I was trying to unlock various things. (skills too spread out to be of any use)

Another challenge is "Unlock as many awards as you can with one captain" I've done about 70% with one captain on Crazy difficulty. I need to try again on Impossible tho.

I don't want to try that one to be honest, a short temper and this being my only device with star traders makes me not want to risk it.

I've only heard of one device being physically thrown across the room after a particularly nasty encounter with an Alien. My recommendation - wrap yourself and your phone in bubble wrap so that if you feel the urge to hurl, the worst that will happen will be a couple of bubbles pop.
The pirate challenge was really good. I wouldn't recommend the challenge where you want everyone hating you. Unless you know some good techniques surviving on your own, you'll feel a lot of pain there.
Doing 100 contracts in 100 years was pretty fun. Very doable, and since you're only challenging yourself, you can slip by a few years if you need to finish off the last few contracts.
I've set myself a challenge of 1117 hostile encounters, and 350 contracts. I completed the hostile encounters, and am at just over 200 contracts with only 1 contract lapsing.

I challenged myself to get 100 rank promotions as soon as possible, that was this morning. That was more because I wanted the upgrades asap to be honest.

There was a challenge where you had to buy all 6 faction flagships search for the "Collector" challenge. That meant you had to get at least rank 18 on each faction in order to get the flagships exposed as "rank ships". You also had to have the money for the flagships (typically around $500k per ship). The other twist is that you weren't allowed to take any other ship apart from the flagships. I might have allowed one other non-flagship right at the beginning so you could ditch your starter ship.

On that file I had only one other ship other than my starting ship. 170 cargo hold.

was that a custom ship? If not, that's a decent cargo size!

It was custom. And expensive as well.

<athios hijacks the thread>Sooo... I just got my Fist of Shalun unlock (kind of the final one I care about), and don't have much left to aim for anymore in ST RPG. Would anyone be interested in joining a new Community Challenge? I have a few concepts, but am open to trying new things if people have ideas: - Torping-only challenge (no gunning or offensive boarding), ranked based on # of opponents blown up and bonus for Aliens
- Extreme Explorer challenge (no Crawler upgrade), ranked based on # of successful explorations with a substantial bonus for the Intrepid Explorer unlock
- Big Shot Trader challenge, ranked based on Top 3 most lucrative transactions plus current cash

I like the second two athios. I'm not much of a torper though... Though those second two are pretty cool.

Here's a challenge that may or may not provoke you to throw your device across the room / out the window: On as high a difficulty setting as you can manage, earn the Independent Captain award and the Clan/Syndicate Hero awards, in that order. (I.e., get -151 rep with all 6 factions first, then get +151 rep with all 6 factions.) So far I've managed to do this on Hard, and I think I've figured out a strategy to do it on Crazy (though haven't tried it yet). To achieve this, you need to plan ahead, since on higher difficulty settings you have to get your captain in shape before you start taking a reputation plunge, otherwise the bounty hunters and military ships will kill you pretty quickly. Also, you need to figure out how to survive while being banned from every star dock, palace, and exchange on every faction planet. And how to regain your rep afterwards in spite of that.
