If you go out hunting pirates, and end up getting looted!
Add something that makes for a lame star trader here!

You have been preparing for years for this - your elite battleship is fully upgraded, your crew is well trained and disciplined, your alien hunter and templar officers are armed to the teeth, the hold is crammed full with weapons and the torps are loaded - it's time to leave! But as the crowds wave you off, something feels wrong.
You reach the dead planet after a long and tiresome trip.
----------
After weeks of searching you have found nothing, not a single trace of any life.
You begin to turn back, but your ship is caught in ferocious solar storms and your sails are wrecked. Space is still eerily silent...
You begin the long journey back to civilization, but it soon becomes clear that you do not have enough water fuel on board to make it. As food becomes scarcer, tension increases, it is only time.
The mutiny has happened, the crew is at your cabin door, only your officers and the last few remaining crew members are at your side... But somehow you survive. Only a few fragments of you tattered crew survive, barely enough to operate the ship, but still you carry on.
You come across an independent marauder, it chases you through the quadrant, but with your ship in the state it is in, the eventually catch up. BATTLE! The enemy fires into your hull, but miraculously it holds, they board and after brutal hand-to-hand fighting you find yourself victorious, but grievously wounded and with a ship falling apart.
Finally, you are only a few AU away from faction space, through your space-scope you can just make out the home planets in the distance...
That is when you finally meet the aliens.

You're a lame Star Trader if... - you found Records while harvesting, but you put them all in the cache before harvesting again. - you get too greedy about selling all the artifacts you got from exploring, and forget to take water fuel from the cache. - your captain died from exploration because you forgot to check his health - after a successful battle, you transferred all the cargo from the other ship onto yours, and THEN you took the other ship

You're a lame Star Trader if you take too long stopping at every world to buy goods for a shortage, only to find the shortage has now expired, and you just lost a bundle!

You're a lame star trader if you don't look at your contracts carefully enough and end up taking 2 in opposite directions that you can never complete. BlastGT1 I would apreciate it if your next thread wouldn't be all about me and things I've done.

You're also a lame Star Trader if you get killed in a slow duel simply because you're too stubborn to surrender and lose your precious cargo of water-fuel.

You're a lame Star Trader trader if you fall asleep while playing, your finger settles on the surrender button and by the time you wake up, you have been executed.

You're a lame Star Trader if you defeat an Independent ship in battle and leave it un-scrapped
