Step-wise hide/show and known/not known is a really cool feature for the mission system. I am glad we included it! ah, I see. Leg 2, 3 of the mission remains unknown. yep, have to agree. but still hope that the revealed steps can include planet and quadrant info. Once the mission is accepted, we do have visual via the map, but when being offered missions, it's a lot of work to figure out where XX planet is located; the quadrant info would really help. I do like bobc idea of access to existing mission info when selecting new ones, but have a feeling that might be out of scope. I am enjoying the variety of missions, and that certain ones require skills that captains may/may not have (like negotiating skills or explorer skills)

Sometimes you get this information when you take a mission, for the first stop of a multi-stop undertaking, but not for the other ones. I'd like all this information for all the stops. yep. It's not consistent or clear in all cases, but especially in multi-step missions as you point out. It's probably clear to TB (and they have probably thought through it), but one example is below: Here is my galactic map, I'm heading back to my 'home' Cadar quadrant, but I have a Thulun Prince contact in my current quadrant who is offering me a few missions (and they are usually very profitable): My first option is 4 jumps at Rubicante, probably the wrong direction. (I know, I can go back out to the galactic map and hover every quadrant to find the planet, but... really?) My second mission option is 3 jumps to Cybutania... maybe this is in my home quadrant? or not. again, too much work to figure out what quadrant the planet is in...) I figure when we get our galactic 'diary' with places we've been, planets we've visited, etc... we'll know a lot more from a navigation pre-planning standpoint as discussed here, but it would also be good to include the base planet/quadrant info on the mission offers/descriptions as a piece of the information communication.

Within the mission description, I've noticed a variety of info (or lack thereof). While the mission offer will always state the # of jumps (and sequential # of jumps for multiple locations... very very good!), sometimes the mission description will list only meeting up with a person (no location info provided). Usually it is the 'home' location, but I've noticed a few times that it wasn't clear at all to me where the heck the mission was going to take me (from the info in the description). Since we are early in alpha, it's not a big deal (to me), I'm just testing the mechanics, etc... but, It would be great to be consistent in the mission descriptions with each 'waypoint' of the mission include the Planet name, Quadrant name. This partially addresses John Robinson concern with the missions/galactic map (at least we have the name), and allows us to help ID multiple mission offers that are close to each other. Currently, I am surprised when I accept multiple missions, and find the waypoints are actually in the same quadrant, and from the mission descriptions, it wasn't clear to me that they were in the same neighborhood. Ditto for accepting missions from multiple contacts. ex. Mission One: Go meet Cadar contact on planet YY and bring back the cube. Mission Two: Find evidence of a crash on planet ZZ in Quadrant QQ. I discover after accepting both that they both in Quadrant QQI don't have specific examples (yet), but John Robinson 's thread started em thinking on this. I'll try and find a few examples and post some screenshots.

Yah, i made a post in 'requests/suggestions' to call out 'significant events' better ( here), but agree, Alphas are the wild frontier. We'll get nice and shiny by release date.

Really a small thing, but noticed when a ship encounter event occurs (ship is same faction, acknowledge, gain a few points of rep with the faction) the main map does not update the amount shown at the top of the page in the UI. note the +31 rep on the main map But if I check my status, it shows +34 rep At some point, the main map points update, didn't closely follow what triggered the refresh (maybe arriving at the next planet?)

Don't really understand what you are describing. What do you mean when you say "selects again"?? It's as if the mouse is clicking itself

From a different thread, but something was brought up that has been missing for me ( grävling brought up unhappiness of crew/morale, and fallen replied): That warning has not be added to the UI yet. I've noticed that I've been missing 'cool' or significant events (or warnings) as the game progressed. Thought we might use this thread to capture everyone's thoughts on things the UI needs to 'call out' during the game to have us 'check' or take action (my list so far): 1. New contacts added through game events (I usually see that I have another contact... cool! When/why did that happen?) 2. Losing crew to health/morale (Time to level up... Oh no, bunch of them have low health) 3. Ship got pounded, ship health is bad. Can't warp or ?? 4. Rumors (I admit, don't check very often, the 'blue' highlighty thingy in the log is helpful, might be a good vehicle to convey all of the above info it it's more prominent; maybe a Win10 'slide in' notification that we can check and click/touch for a summary, and tap on a section for a more detailed screen?) ok. I'll stop. Just brainstorming ways to be more aware of significant game events, which you've probably thought out already. :-) 5. Quarantined planets (John Robinson thread)

Just a tiny UI thingy on opening contacts on the Galaxy Map screen: 1. Missions/Contacts/Rumors menu on the left covers up the contacts (you can't select any of the menu buttons, which is prob what we want) 2. The contacts screen opens up to 'Local' button selection at the bottom (and shows Global contacts), it does correct itself when you click on the Global/Local area tho.

I don't know if this is a feature or bug, but when purchasing at the Exchange, I select an item (exaggerated red mouse pointer): Then I hover my mouse over the slider bar (and it selects where the mouse is pointing): So I move my mouse to the right, and wait a second (and it selects again!): Weird, huh? I've tried this with my Logitech mouse and touchpad. I'm pretty sure this happened in 1.0.25 as well, but just disregarded the jumps as my usual nervous clicking of the mouse. It also happens on template creation on the 'ATTRIBUTES' screen with the sliders (you can see it happen live on my 'Mac Install' youtube video at 7m20s); so it seems it happens with all slider instances. Verified on my iMac as well.

The ones in the red box don't do anything. So NOW you want the back button to work!?!! 😝😉

Mistakenly hitting the back button planetside is causing me to bounce in to orbit often enough that my pilots are levelling twice as fast as everyone else! For me the issue is that a lot of the sub-menus do not have their own back buttons yet, so after visiting the spice hall etc I am hitting 'back' to return to the 'bare / default' view as shown in the OP, and going in to orbit instead. I anticipate the final UI will resolve this and have 'back buttons' for all sub-menus, but grävling suggestion of having the button greyed out planetside sounds really good. Yah, your sub-menu comment of having a way to either 'go back' or 'close' on key screens was kind of what I envision with the final UI. Also, I get grävling 's frustration, but realize we are still alpha 1.0.x

I am working on some new exports tonight as we prep for a release. The Traits table is now sortable from the headers: startraders.gamepedia.com/TraitsStart Ship List incoming Very slick, great job!
