1.2.23
Kindle HD 6
in the requisition tree, selecting 'details', will list items and descriptions of upgrades. There is a buy button at the bottom that doesn't do anything. Also not sure why it is named differently from the previous screen (purchase, i think)?

I got some additional clarification from Cory, so I'd thought I would x-post it here... The number of planets per Xeno AI and the size of the map. I set those values on the maps when we build them ... easy, hard, whatever. I test the maps with our self-testing system ... basically I run it and count the number of times the auto-playing player wins. From there I estimate difficulty. Also I tend to flag levels that use the Dark Terrox or Red Zorga as harder, because those AI are so aggressive.

To summarize the request, you wish there were more "(easy)" maps on the list? Cory Trese fallen Thank you both for clarifying how you came to characterize each map choice, the insight really helps me understand how they get their 'rating' And yes, I was hoping that there would be a medium and/or large sized 'easy map' available on the add-on map types, Rinze and Degla, which are all 'average to extreme' (which currently eat me for lunch and too much of a challenge to enjoy)

What do you mean by easy maps? Map difficulty is strictly defined by the number of Xeno, which you have control over. Is there something I'm missing? New game > the rim 64x64 (64 worlds), resources average, 2 xenos (easy); game options show normal setting New game > the rim 64x64 (42 worlds), resources average, 2 xenos (hard); game options show normal setting i get that you can reduce number of xeno, and set the difficulty setting, but what is the difference between the two rim maps that would make one hard, one easy? I'm trying to find more maps that are in line with the first one tho, so i can experiment more.

I'm sure I'll eventually improve as a player, but the map choices for EASY level are pretty slim. I've purchased the additional maps, but they are mostly advanced. I know I can lower the xeno to 1, and the AI to easy, but... still getting my butt kicked everytime I try one.
Ultimately, I guess I'd like a medium and a large map that is easy easy easy to let me learn more about the research options, growth, ship building, without the pesky xeno intruding until I'm ready.
Just some thoughts

MintDragon I'm glad you benefited from one of my posts. If you want more team ideas and a lot of theory crafting I suggest this thread. some of the groups in the earlier pages are outdated due to talent changes and attribute equation changes, but there is a good 40 pages of theory crafting. Some mine and some from others. Some what would now be the classic group builds came out of collaboration in this thread. Iron curtain in its countless tweaks (credit to En1gma for getting me hooked on this concept), and many others. Group feedback and advice bookmarked :-)

There are a couple tricks for this fight depending on your build. You can retreat to the choke point. The rear flanking group is fairly b easy to take care of. If you have a less squishy build built for close range fighting I like to charge across to the opposite palisade while staying tight to the middle wall and potion chug instead of heal. Focus on taking down as many as possible per turn. My first attempt at the game I potion chugged. A lot. My defensive strategy was a 2x2 formation, and I went through all my potion until I would get repeatedly killed trying to recover papers from the caravan. So I gave up and put the game down for awhile.... But then I read, researched, and stumbled upon your amazing Team OG 3.0 post, and used it as a guide for upgrades; also started to understand mechanisms and strategy a lot better, thanks to you. (Thank you!) Started a new team based on your post, and... I started intentionally looking for a choke point / defensible position a few battles before my screenshot, and a lightbulb appeared over my head. Then a smile.

Seeing as you are running Team A, I thought this topic may be useful. On another hand, may be not. Anyway, a note I wanted to make is, try to minimize Kyera's exposition. At most 1 free square next to her is fine. More is an unnecessary danger. Love this post! I'm not very experienced with these type of games, so reading others' ideas is the best way for me to learn. Thank you anrdaemon

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you are back in Oskahold then you are still on Episode 1, Act 2. yes, yes, you are right. I couldn't think of the correct division. I'm about to accept Lady's offer to get us on a secret path to Riven Field from Oskahold. :-)

*whew* made it to episode 2, back in oskahold. I'm getting pretty good at looking for defensible positions (vraes and kyera on the outside, tamlin and kjartan protected), and working the angles with range attacks, vraes as a whacker/absorber, kyera as secondary whacker/healer. Got me thru this, as well as the rest of the way to the end of episode 1.
Game is being played on Steam/Mac, and find I prefer it on there due to UI (mouse scrollwheel zoom is awesome), hence the larger screen area.

I notice the difference!
As a player still struggling to make it through Part 1 on the easiest setting, it's helping! (Now off to the east farmhouse...)
