Well, I've been reading the forum for a while, and happened to stuble across this thread. Don't know if it is still active but I'll post anyway.
I love Tamilin. She has a kindness in her eyes that Selen doesn't have. Selen looks really cold to me. I am trying hard to use Tamilin on this group I'm building, but she doesn't bring much to the table, sadly. All she does is ranged damage, and she is also kind of a late bloomer.
I've been toying a lot with the Boost-In feature, and I've played with Silent Stalker quite a bit. I must say, I really love that Talent. If you win the surprise it can be devastating, and during the fight you can just use it to curse opponents. The only drawback I feel it has is that either the Talent unlocks too late, or the SP cost is too high to use as a recurring curse. At level 4, where it has a decent Accuracy and Armor debuff it just costs too much SP, which is kind of lame because Selen has crazy efficient curses.
I really feel Tamilin lags behind Selen, in several aspects. Selen has crazy defenses, both melee and ranged, but Tamilin is kind of squishy and for her to have a solid ranged defense you would need to max Blacknight. I feel she really should have more ranged defense. It makes sense that Selen has great melee AND ranged defense, but Tamilin only has good ranged defense. If she had the ability to tank mobs of enemy rangers I am sure a lot more people would take her on her teams.
This could be the answer to making her more popular. Take her in different directions, pure damage, like she currently can, curser with a reworked Silent Stalker or another talent, and ranged tank -evasion like.
I hope my thoughts can be of use to you guys, I reeeally love your game and I'd love for it to have even MORE diversity and balance.

All of the characters continue to be the focus of updates and improvements. There has been good discussion on this thread, and many different opinions. Mathematically, it can be proven that they advance at the same rate, however, strategy and tactics of the utility of those advancements makes for individual perceptions relative to the power of each of the characters. As we continue to work on the game, it is important to remember that our goal is NOT to make the characters equivalent -- many of the points Xamedhi makes are indeed the very thing that makes the characters unique. You could invert all of those statements as compliments to Tamilin and several posters above have already done just that. I believe this is a testament to fallen's hard work on the balancing factors.

Tamilin has Stealth. (Now, said that, I'm wondering - is 39 Stealth okay, or I'm going overboard?) And she's a real killer. If you haven't tried her with 3AP/7 range bow, I strongly suggest it. If anything, it would relieve some stress of the SP drain.

Selen has crazy defenses, both melee and ranged, but Tamilin is kind of squishy and for her to have a solid ranged defense you would need to max Blacknight. Do not make the mistake of failing to upgrade Tamilin's blade weapon. Get her a high parry weapon and 16 dex, I think you'll be pleased. Also, Tamilin is my favorite character. She has that kindness in her eyes, but sometimes it's the kindness that comes with a swift death. On another note, I am in the process of doing a rework of her artwork!

Still haven't found a place for her, even with the Boost In... When I make a group, I just can't bring myself to use her... I want to, but I don't like the groups that she requires... I'll give her some more thought, but I don't know.

En1gma, at the risk of going a bit off topic, what kind of groups do you build with her?

I don't. Replacing Selen (IMO the best character in the entirety of the game) locks me into Fyona because I don't trust Kyera to tank, which then gets rid of my go to AP curses. Because of that, I'm locked into Vincent or Kincaid to doink AP, which leaves me with a party that is too ineffective for me to want to play.
I'm sure there are groups that work with her, I just haven't found one that works for me that fits my criteria.
(If you want to tag someone, put an @ before their name- no space)

Thanks, En1gma, for the tip, hehe. Well, I'm in a similar situation, but I'll try to figure out how to do it. I really want Tamilin in my group this time :c

En1gma - strange, sounds like you use a very limited set of characters! I only have one active group with Selen. I think I have the other addiction!

fallen, exactly the opposite... I use every other character all the time. The only one who I don't use is Tamilin. She just doesn't appeal to me at all Just to prove it, tonight, I'll begin a boosted group and give her another honest shot. I know I'll be missing having a parry/dodge curse, but for the sake of debate, why not? Not only does she not fit into any of my groups talent wise, she is only slightly less fragile than KJ, and that makes her a liability, where two/three shots that make it through her defenses is enough to kill her.

I'm just going to forego using ranged AP altogether. I'll give CS Kincaid and Fyona a point or two into Reckoning. I'll just focus on obliterating everything in range with 3 AP bows with RO and I'll save up for at least Firestorm 4, so KJ can start wiping things off the board from afar.

Even though this thread has hashed this to death and I'm not really adding anything here, just wanted to put in my two cents. I have totally switched over to Tamilin since her reworking. I do exactly like En1gma described and forgo -AP curses with the exception of a point in Reckoning. Just putting one point into RO is sufficient and then boosting crit for all it's worth. I'm now struggling to find a place for Selen in my builds, but my play style likes to keep things far away from my team and generally dead. Someone said it before but a dead mob has 0 AP En1gma I'm surprised that you haven't used Tam with Kincaid's throwing knives as your parry/dodge curse. I'm using DS 4 on him and it's a great softener to ensure reliable crits. I'm finding that building a high damage avoidance team (Kincaid and Fyona with shield and high parry) really doesn't need -AP. Sure sometimes the dice don't roll your way but as long as you stick a few points into Con and just use pots to get back up to full. Using equipment and buffs, my Kincaid is sitting at +28 bonus dodge and parry above all the other stats.
