krakun- so long as they agree to prioritize Cruiser Tech, they may pick any other research directives they choose. They don't even need to do all the Cruiser Tech all at once, so long as progress is made, we will agree to their decided path.

krakun , En1gma The Prime colonies would be able to use the buildings unlocked by the research proposed by Clan Mok. The first wave expansion colonies are all still building the very basics, but would be able to use them after getting some tents up for the refugees.

Honored House Thulun,
As before, I come as an unofficial and off-the-record representative of the Exalted Clan Moklumnue. There is a small proposal that we would like to offer you. If you were to find this proposal acceptable, we would be most amenable to working with your honored house on all things research oriented.
We propose this simply, prioritizing the Fighters tree, researching it to the top, and then potentially moving to an alternation between economic and military tech. As an example, moving up the tech tree to Fighters 3, researching an economic tech, moving to a military tech, back to economic tech, etc.
If your honored house finds this acceptable, I can bring this proposal before all of the Exalted Clan Moklumnue and draw up a detailed research proposal. Once we have that, I would bring it to your honored house for your feedback. Once everything is acceptable, we could jointly propose it to the main assembly.
Additionally, the Exalted Clan Moklumnue feels that it is time to start setting colonization targets past our sheltered prime system. We feel at least one system should be colonized on either side of the asteroid fields to provide forward bases for defense and advanced warning. Ideally, your fast growing and industrious house would establish these forward bases. However, we understand that asking your house to take both fronts is putting too much burden on you. As such, if House Thulun were to agree to colonize a planet just behind Hadrian's Wall, the Exalted Clan Moklumnue would agree to colonize a system just beyond The Great Wall.
What say you, honored House Thulun?

johndramey- I can say with certainty that Thulun finds this path of research agreeable. Optimal, even. As we have said, so long as there is a marked emphasis on military tech, any other research is fine with us. We look forward to seeing the path Moklumnue and Javat come up with. What I cannot say for certain is your proposal for Thulun to send any colony ship outside the core sector without FIRST securing the core. We MAY be open to negotiating this once the core sector is safe. I will wait to hear from my compatriots to give you a unified decision, until then, this measure may not be discussed any further. The lives of millions of refugees are at stake, sending millions more into the maw of the enemy without first securing a fallback may not be a risk Thulun is willing to take.

For research I agree,I would have proposed it myself had I thought of it.
As for a forward colony...I'm not opposed to the idea but it should be after we've built the core systems up a bit more. We move out too far too early and the Xenos will eat all our tasty colonists!

Good afternoon, gentlemen. The time has come to rekindle the passion of House Thulun, for too long have our council chambers been bereft of our presence. Included in your docket is a link to Commander CdrPlatypus's last formal update. Please review the information therein, and we can begin deliberations anew. startradersrpg.proboards.com/thread/12292/st4x-community-game-main-thread?page=9Commander, it would be good if we had word about the level of Xeno activity in the quadrant, whether we have made contact with any ships, if they are in a period of aggressive expansion or if they lay dormant for the time being. If we HAVE made contact, we should push to unlock some measure of Cruiser Tech, so that we may have sturdier layers of defense should the Xeno come knocking. If we have NOT made contact, I suggest we continue as we had before our... unfortunate setback, where we allow the other factions to decide our Research path, so long as they agree to make Starship Tech a priority. ( contributor, johndramey, feedback is welcome here, good friends) Should the current situation warrant it, I would also urge the factions to consider another round of expansion. Since we have no idea so far concerning how well the newest colonies are developing, we would need more information before we could make a solid decision here. I am still fully in favor of colonizing the entirety of the Core space before we venture out past the asteroids. However, we could surely compromise on this point should Moklumnue agree to expand alongside us. It is far too great a risk to undertake alone. I would urge the other factions to consider developing and producing a few Cruiser Class vessels to guard the outlying colonies, should we agree to send our refugees into harm's way. To any representatives who happened to stop by, help yourself to any libations and delicacies you would like. Thulun is more than happy to have you, and to celebrate our return to business. No expense has been spared in creating the spread before you, so enjoy! /raises a glass to toast the room For Shalun!!

En1gma graphics coming sunday I think. For Xenos we have 3x Nyktos just outside the asteroids on our west flank and 2x Bolish in the far east all the way at the edge of the map as far as what's been spotted.

I'm back! I'm back! Totally haven't been distracted by Metal Gear Solid V! I believe what En1gma suggested is the best idea,Cruiser tech should help hold back the Xenos from sampling our tasty citizens.... Should also keep us flexible when dealing with our honorable (but less majestic) representatives from the other Clans.

Krakun enters, a warm red rubber bottle applied to his forehead.By the High Templar's tiny testicles, I'll never get used to those thawing headaches. But it's good to see you all chipper and dapper. I read you proposals, dear En1gma, and I'm fully aligned. I do wish to nuance that I recommend the cruiser tech and all the abilities its successors unlock, but I'm not such a fan of cruisers themselves. Too bulky and expensive for my tastes, a swarm of light fighters are more versatile. Again our High Templar proves useful for once in serving as an analogy: he might have surgically gotten rid of that wart on the bridge of his nose, but he'll never be free of that plague of zits on his cheeks. This being said, I'll go and see if those promised maps are finally available.

I apologize for being late, honored delegates of House Thulun. Many things have kept me away from the council chambers, however I have managed to make some time to stop in for a bit of a talk. I have no large qualms with your suggested course of action, delegate En1gma, however I do feel it would be premature to focus solely on cruisers at this point in time. In fact, since we have delved so deeply into Fighter technologies, I think it would be a better use of our resources at this time to research carriers in order to maximize the effectiveness of our fighters. We could design a kind of mothership, focused largely on sitting behind any lines and repairing our fighters. To split our research into two opposing fields (fighters and cruisers) would be to waste precious time early in our Empire's history. As such, I feel military research should be focused on working towards light carriers, and then possibly looking into torpedo based cruisers as stand-off vessels. I do, however, feel that economic research should still be undertaken. As such, I propose that we start a simple alternation between economic and military tech, starting with an economic technology. How does this plan sound to you, honored delegates of Thulun? Regarding expansion, I am fully in favor of another round of expansion. In fact, I am going to lobby strongly for expansion outside of our core. If the honored House Thulun will expand westward to the single open blue system, then I am sure I can convince Clan Moklumnue to expand directly eastward of our territory to the lower yellow system just on the opposite side of The Great Wall. The central core worlds can be left to Clan Javat and their industrious mines, secure and ever producing capital for the Empire. I do realize I am asking your House to take a risk in colonizing a potentially low quality system as well as to take a more... precarious position nearer to potential xeno threats, however I am sure sufficient defensive resources could be positioned over the system to easily protect it from any xeno threat. Moreover, having a forward operating base against the western xeno would be ideal, as I envision our Empire first moving against the western xeno. Clan Moklumnue is willing to take and hold the eastern front until such a time as the western xeno are eradicated. What say you, honored delegates? If you agree, then why not collaborate on a research path to put to the commander?

I have no objections on your military proposal, and should my fellow delegates agree with me, consider it well with Thulun.
Concerning your Research proposal, so long as military Tech is made a priority, there will be no issue on the order Mok and Javat choose for the overall plan. Thulun will drive Research wherever the Alliance wills it.
My period of knee-jerk reactions has fully abated, as my cryo-fever burned off some time ago. Apologies again for all that jazz (/ooc had a ton of crap to deal with IRL, but things are back to awesome.), my head just needed to clear. This being said, I'm not opposed to trying to establish a colony to the West. However- I do not wish to attempt this without some hardpoints established. For this to have approval, we will need a defensive fleet to secure our new beachhead. Once we have Carrier Tech, and have the capabilities to withstand a prolonged siege, this will be better received by the citizenry of Thulun. Until then, why not expand once more in the core, and with the subsequent effort colonize these outlying systems. This will allow ample time for our fleet tech to develop, and send a more measured approach.
I will wait to hear from the remainder of the Thulun delegation before speaking further. House Thulun is more than happy to have such civil discourse in its halls, and looks forward to reaching consensus in the near future.

Then, why not this as a possible course of action?
1) Clan Moklumnue will expand beyond The Great Wall as previously proposed. 2) House Thulun and Clan Javat will determine where they are to expand. 3) Military research be focused on producing light support carriers configured to be stand-off support vessels, cheap and equipped with the minimum to support fighters. 4) When such light carriers are developed, resources be assigned to produce one (1) light carrier and two (2) defensive second generation fighters. 5) House Thulun then expands westward under the protection of the above stated fleet.
