I blame the sub-space communication interconnect costs.

Hey bigredsmurf, welcome to the forum. You managed to pick out one of the oldest threads to resurrect Using Surveillance with a spy war, and Blockade with a solar war is an awesome way of getting a faction to like you again. I've gone from negative thousands of RP back to positives within a relatively short timeframe just because of that. The old adage though of "Don't piss everyone off until you've got the skills to shoot back" is really important though, because if you've annoyed lots of factions and you take damage every combat, you're not gonna last long in the quadrant

I like the red and blue lights at the top of the drone so you know you're being tazed by a legitimate authority as opposed to a rogue drone

Hahaha I signed up for the clap - but I haven't got many friends. Who woulda thunk being a reclusive private cat would result in only a few Facebook friends

Hey - I might have missed the comment, but did anyone else notice the tail behind the Winter Soldier (#13)? Never mind - I think I mistook that as a separate tail and not part of #12

Fourth HorsemanAt the very least, cache water fuel in a few strategic locations. This means you don't have to worry about trade embargoes when you are running low. You don't necessarily need to actually BUY stuff for your cache. Yes, buy under surplus situations (you can always get a ton of things for very little cash). However the bulk of your stuff for caches inevitably comes from ship to ship encounters. There are some very high-traffic shipping lanes that you can milk for lots of potential targets. It will cause lots of -ve RP with some factions though depending on the areas you are patrolling. negative RP does mean more encounters with that faction though - especially when they start sending lots of bounty hunters an military ships at you. You're picking the fight though, so I'd expect you to be able to handle yourself

Officer Genious For your top screenshot, Pilot too low. Tactics too high. Nice amount of cash built up though Shame that your bottom captain died. I think you're investing in other skills areas when you should just focus on getting that pilot skill level up (eg investing in Charisma and Strength). Another thing you can do is only invest in base attributes when you've got enough XP to go up 1x skill at the same time. IE, only add 1 to Quickness when you're also able to add 1x to Pilot. You had 12 Charisma, but only 9 for Negotiate. That's 3x Charisma points that could have been invested in something else ... like pilot

Merchanting is fun, but I've found the only way you can make real money doing just that is with shortage/surplus rumors, and relying on your hidden caches. You are using caches in wilderness areas right? I've had caches with thousands of units of each type of cargo, making for very easy resolution of shortages, especially with the Devaltos flagship or the Slayerz NR2. Imagine dumping 204 units of Artifacts in a shortage situation!!! An easy $1M trade Note the NR2 is upgraded with a WF tank so you can maximise on the shortage opportunities! Now if you really want to be good at trading - the most lucrative way of making a profit is if your cost of goods is zero. How do you do that? Blockade Steel Song and raid all their ships of course

Yeah that captain hasn't been leveling as fast because he was getting lazy. He has 338 XP to use up that he just can't be bothered with
