In my estimation, you can change faction by allying yourself with any other faction by your actions. I have always considered the faction to be the faction to which your captain was born. You can't change that fact. I totally forgot all about this post. I'm surprised anyone posted! I agree with you here. I was just thinking that, perhaps, there could be further penalties and benefits to going rogue "officially". I mean, yes, you'll still be born whatever nation birthed you. But maybe there a sort of slightly deeper "loyalty program" mechanic where who you are allied with really makes a difference. Honestly though, I think a lot of the newer ideas could, and should, be held off for ST2....ST2 should totally be an MMO. I know! It could be a fun version of Eve Online! Yeah! >_> One can dream.

I haven't actually paid attention enough lately to know who's here and who's not. My life just got insanely busy now that I'm back at work full time.
Not sent from my snazzy new Samsung Galaxy S4, but my 3 year old gaming desktop. I'm too lazy to use my phone at the moment.

Everyone can rest easy knowing that I am still here. After all, I am the glue that holds this place together. Or something.

Stealth is less effective than beating a hasty retreat with a lot of flair. When I run away, I make sure the ether lights up brighter than the freaking 4th of July.

As your pilot+tactics+intimidate go up, the less crew you need to run your engines/guns efficiently.
With that said, the amount of engines on that ship is why its good for explorers. With artifacts attaching big ass neon flashing signs on the side of your ship saying "FREE LEWTZ INSIDE!", effectively turning you into an interstellar piƱata, you're gonna want some speed churning out of your space boat.

I want Zombie Ninja Pirate Robots. Set the game in the 1920s Prohibition era. Oh, and Star Wars On Ice. With Dinosaurs. You HAVE to make this. It's a must! Just think of chocolatey goodness oozing from that idea! You used to eat peanut butter and licorice pizzas on friday nights didn't you? Don't judge!

HateSolstice - Heroes of Steel will be a unique title for Trese Brothers as it is a story-based game. Non-linear, deep, complex -- but not a sandbox game at its heart. "Alpha" may have been a misnomer (we named it that back in Feb 2013) ... the game was very, very playable and fun by the time we released it to Alpha, so it was probably more of a closed Beta. Ah, I see. So, what kind of freedom and non-linearity can we expect to see? I'm really excited to see you guys do a story-driven game, but I don't want to see the Trese Bros. magic fall to the wayside. You and Cory excel at sandbox, and since this is your first foray beyond that scope, I feel a little nervous about you possibly not hitting the same stride we've come to expect. I know, I'm worrying over nothing.

HoS is already nearing release? Didn't you guys just enter alpha not that long ago? I mean, granted your games are simple enough aesthetically to get done much quicker than 3D games, but you guys usually cram a ton of complex and possibly convoluted algorithms and calculations into them that its mind-boggling.
Oh well, I wait with bated breath for its release. I've tried to remain as in the dark as I can so it doesn't feel spoiled. One question, though. Will the game feature all the same randomness of your other games? I honestly know nothing about this game.

Never mind the fact that the native tribes were cut-throats and warmongers. They spent a lot of time killing each other over strips of land like it was the Gaza Strip. The Native Americans of the day were not how they are portrayed nowadays on tv.
Modern historians and apologists want everyone to think that every hate crime, atrocity, genocidal conflict, and instance of slavery is all "the white man's" fault. Everyone seems to enjoy glossing over the horrible truth that most non-white societies and cultures are/were just as brutal and capable of despicable acts to their own kind, if not more so. I couple point out countless events throughout history, but it's hardly necessary.

Why do the aliens never engage with me. I run into one, launch a torpedo and it runs away... every time. Any tips? Did you try to "advance" before sending a torpedo ? That way if it retreat, it's still in fight with you. If your pilot and tactics skills are high enough, shooting a torp up their backside will typically damage enough of their engines to slow them down. If you have the forward lance upgrade, then advancing first turn is preferable. That's my two cents.

I always rename my ships "Hammer of Heaven". Influenced by the amazingly awesome metal band The Sword.

I use the default browser on my phone and have no issues. Or I'll use my desktop if I'm sitting at it. I'm not paying $3 for an app that does the same thing I can do for free, and just as efficiently.

The difficulty required for unlocks is the minimum. As long as you play on that difficulty or higher, you can unlock the rewards.
