This thread is used for posting links to POSTS or THREADS that are relevant to ST2.
I will be deleting posts AT WILL in this thread, if I do not want the link.
This thread is primarily for me to use, you are welcome to post links as well, however.

If ST2 is still on its way I reckon a Karma system would be a nice feature. Are you a heartless criminal who enslaves those he deems worthy and vents the rest. Or are you a defender of order and justice who hunts the most dangerous criminals and leaves the innocent alone.
Different alignments could influence in different ways that compliment the playstyle that begets them.

I really like the idea of a karma system separate form the faction reputations

Yeah, an overarching stat of how much of a saint / sinner you are, spearate from the faction stats, that could affect your overall experience, for example by influencing the types of jobs factions may give you, or how much you'll be paid based on your trust level. I love it in principal, the only thing that makess it difficult to implement is complexity. For example, how it would interact or compete with faction / clan rep, and how it would work when you are relatively unknown at the start of the game. Unless you're famous, it doesn't make sense to be offered an illegal smuggling job from a Spice Hall a thousand light years away because you were once a total dick and demanded more cash from a simple delivery job back on your first mission. Maybe have a Fame / Infamy rating instead, that covers both? It would really help those people who like to be total piratical anarchists too! The Quadrants most infamous pirate! Now just add multiplayer so we can collect the enormous bounty, thus enhancing our own Fame and leading to better jobs in single player

Also, make it so that the lower your karma, the more bounty hunters want to kill you.

We certainly wouldn't want it to be that simple!

Sorry fellas - I'm a bit lost on the correct blog / thread to check on the progress of Star Traders 2 ....
Wanted to see if it should go on the Yule gift list.
Any links / updates?

The best place to check for updates is on the KickStarter site! We are working on a Thanksgiving update!

Hmm thanks - last thing I saw about Release ETA - mentioned Q4 2015?
Obviously out dated at this time.
Looking forward to your next update.
As a quick tip though - can we expect release on Steam before the holidays or will it be in 2017?

shrike - not sure which updates you are reading, but the last 3 updates were posted in August, September, October and each includes a status update on our progress toward alpha, listing task counts and % complete. We are working on our end of November update now. It will include a similar status update on progress and % complete toward Alpha. As Alpha has not been released yet, the game launch is months after alpha goes live, so that gives some idea of where we are at -- definitely 2017.

Ok thanks Fallen.
Based on my enjoyment of the original Star Traders, I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
Will check back in a few months.
Best regards
